Leathes Prior the new T20 champions of East Anglia, securing a defeat against Swardeston CC

Tuesday 15 August was an evening of cricket and fish and chips for Leathes Prior and Swardeston Cricket Club (CC) as we went head-to-head in a sponsors T20 game.
The match took place on the picturesque Common at Swardeston and the sun shone all evening despite threats of downpours throughout the previous week. Various members of Swardeston CC were in attendance, as well as friends, family and plenty of local spectators that joined us for the evening.
Swardeston CC elected to bat first, finishing with a score of 111-7 off their 16 overs with Polly Langford the standout bowler taking 1-4 off her 2 overs. It was then Leathes Prior's turn to bat (with a few members of Swardeston CC for moral support). After a shaky start the runs started to flow as it briefly rained 6's, as well as roof tiles, before Polly, Craig Farr and Beth Slaughter steadied the ship with the final runs being hit by Beth to secure the win!
The evening was then topped off with some fish and chips from Frier Tucks and a beer in the clubhouse bar.
It was a fantastic opportunity to get more of our team out to the beautiful Swardeston CC, show our support for the club and allow the two teams to get to know each other even better.
Stuart Bartram, Swardeston Sponsorship Secretary, said: “We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful evening on The Common with our main club sponsors Leathes Prior. Good fun all round and a deserved victory for the LP team. It was a great opportunity for club players and members to spend some social time with the Leathes Prior team. Here’s to next year."

Autumn Budget 2025: Agricultural Property Relief & Business Property Relief Changes
It was announced in the 2025 Budget that from 6 April 2026, changes will be made to agricultural property relief and business property relief. These changes bring APR and BPR in line with the nil-rate band rules, meaning unused allowances can be transferred to a surviving spouse or civil partner. This is a significant step towards making estate planning easier for families who own farms or businesses.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 is expected to come into force tomorrow (18 December 2025)
After an extended period of back-and-forth amendments between Parliament and the House of Lords, on 16 December 2025, the ERB finally received approval from the House of Lords, with the formality of Royal Assent due to take place tomorrow (18 December 2025).
