Leathes Prior's Corporate, Commercial Property & Employment Teams acted for Hatfield Investments Limited on the sale of Crossways Residential Home.
Crossways Residential Home, situated in Sheringham, Norfolk, has a proud history of providing residential care for adults in the local community, and has an established reputation within Norfolk for its services, having been routinely rated as good or outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Having been managed for many years under the care and leadership of Steve Booth and Sandra Slapp, the service will now be operated under the careful guidance of Luminous Care Group.
Involved were Sam Poulter and Hugo Persad from our Corporate Team, Lucy Whipps and Penny Welling from our Commercial Property Team, and Gareth Stevens from our Employment Team. They were ably assisted by Tony Larner and Neil Harbour from Tony Larner Chartered Certified Accountants.
Following completion, Steve said: “I would like to commend Leathes Prior Solicitors, who acted on our behalf, for their expert advice and support. Particularly, I would like to thank Sam Poulter, my main point of contact, for bringing together and “Quarterbacking” the expertise of the entire team, all to a successful conclusion”.
Commenting in kind, Sam said: “It was an absolute pleasure to assist Steve and Sandra with the transfer of their business, which they have devoted so much time, care and attention to over the years. They worked with us at all times in good humour, which always makes a matter enjoyable to work on. Their determination to achieve the best for the business’ staff and residents, and to ensure that the service will continue to provide the high levels of care post-completion which they themselves have upheld, was clear from the outset and never wavered."
Having worked incredibly hard to get this over the line, we wish them both a very happy start to their well-earned retirement. We hope to see Crossways continue to go from strength to strength in the coming years under the care of the Luminous Group.

The Value of Planning Ahead: LPAs & Court of Protection
Putting LPAs in place allows you to choose trusted people to make decisions for you if you lose capacity in the future. This avoids the need for loved ones to make a costly and time-consuming deputyship application to the Court of Protection. With more people likely to experience conditions affecting capacity, more families may need to turn to the Court for support where no LPAs are in place.
