We are pleased to announce four members of the firm have been promoted to Senior Associate.
Lily Beel has become an integral part of our Residential Property Team, providing exceptional client care. Her promotion to Senior Associate is very well-deserved, coinciding with her new role as Deputy of the Residential Property Team. Lily is also an active member of the firm’s Charity Committee, showing her commitment to the wider community.
Calum Paterson has established himself as a key member of our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Team, specialising in property and probate disputes. His promotion to Senior Associate acknowledges the vital role he plays within the team, his dedication to providing exceptional service and his noteworthy contribution to the firm’s Business Development & Marketing Team’s efforts.
Bethany Slaughter has developed niche expertise at the firm, bridging the gap between Wills, Trusts & Probate and Residential Property, offering a holistic service to our clients. Her tireless work ethic and dedication to her role has made her a great asset to both the firm and her clients, and her promotion to Senior Associate is well-deserved.
Nina Ryan is a highly regarded lawyer and a key member of our Corporate & Commercial Team. Her promotion to Senior Associate reflects the brilliant service she provides to the firm’s commercial clients and her contributions to the wider firm, including her involvement in our Wellbeing and Sports & Social Committees.

As four Associates take the next step to Senior Associate, we take great pleasure in announcing the promotion of four members of staff to Associate.
James Conley, who joined our Employment Team in 2021, has already proven to be an invaluable member of the team. With over five years of highly recommended experience, James provides our clients with expert service and his promotion is an acknowledgement of his continued contribution to his team and the firm. James is also a valuable member of the firm’s Sports & Social Committee, further demonstrating his commitment to the firm.
Rachael Hughes, who joined our Residential Property Team in 2022 with 17 years of invaluable experience, has quickly become a key member of the team. She consistently offers her expertise in a wide range of property matters and impresses clients with her professionalism, empathy, and communication skills. Her promotion to Associate reflects her dedication to her team and clients.
Jake Mowatt, who joined our Residential Property Team in late 2021, has already made a remarkable impression. With a particular focus on lease extensions, Jake has demonstrated his commitment to providing exceptional service to our clients and his promotion is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
Last but not least, Edmund Ramsdale, who joined our Residential Property Team in 2020, has consistently demonstrated his brilliant work ethic and commitment to delivering an excellent service to our clients. Recommended for his professionalism, good humour, and empathy throughout the conveyancing process, Edmund's promotion to Associate is well-deserved.

We congratulate all eight of our team members on their well-deserved promotions and look forward to working with them in their new roles. We thank them for their continued commitment to their teams and the wider firm, ultimately ensuring every client receives exceptional service.

It was announced in the 2025 Budget that from 6 April 2026, changes will be made to agricultural property relief and business property relief. These changes bring APR and BPR in line with the nil-rate band rules, meaning unused allowances can be transferred to a surviving spouse or civil partner. This is a significant step towards making estate planning easier for families who own farms or businesses.
