We are delighted to be supporting SOS Bus Norwich as our Charity of the Month for December 2024. The main aim of the SOS Bus is, and always has been, to provide a safe place in the heart of Norwich for anyone needing help and support while out and about in the city centre.
Originally established in 2001, the bus is positioned in Norwich City Centre on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30 pm to 3:30 am with a team of up to five volunteers with dedicated security, a paramedic, and an emergency first responder. The team works with the police, ambulance service, and local pubs and nightclubs to support the community.
Their primary purpose is to reduce unnecessary ambulance call-outs and attendance at A&E and free up police time by offering immediate assistance to anyone at risk. They are in radio contact with the police and ambulance service, CCTV control centre, local pubs and nightclubs, by which clients are frequently referred to the service.

What else can the SOS Bus help with?
- A safe space to access immediate help if unwell, injured, vulnerable, or emotionally distressed.
- A safe space to wait for a taxi if you feel nervous to wait for one on your own.
- A place to pick up a bottle of water if dehydrated.
- A safe and free place to charge your phone if you need to contact your friends or family.
The SOS Bus is now an independent charity, and the service relies on donations from individuals, organisations and businesses to continue doing the incredible work they do every week. If you'd like to be involved and support this fantastic charity, you can donate to their Just Giving page here. If you're interested in volunteering with the charity, find out more here.

Autumn Budget 2025: Agricultural Property Relief & Business Property Relief Changes
It was announced in the 2025 Budget that from 6 April 2026, changes will be made to agricultural property relief and business property relief. These changes bring APR and BPR in line with the nil-rate band rules, meaning unused allowances can be transferred to a surviving spouse or civil partner. This is a significant step towards making estate planning easier for families who own farms or businesses.
