We are thrilled to be supporting Norfolk and Waveney Mind as our Charity of the Month for November 2024. Norfolk and Waveney Mind is the leading mental health charity in Norfolk and Waveney, supporting people with a variety of needs, from people experiencing moderate depression and anxiety to those in a mental health crisis.
They believe no one should face mental health problems alone, something we at LP feel very passionate about supporting. To make this vision a reality they provide an extensive range of mental health services along with associated training, advice, and information to individuals and businesses across Norfolk and Waveney.
Norfolk & Waveney Mind’s services include:
- Five REST hubs offering drop-in mental health support
- Short Stay Recovery Houses for people who have been in mental health crisis
- Enhanced Recovery Workers based in GPs’ surgeries
- 1:1 talking therapies
- Mental health training and education for businesses, schools, and individuals - including wellness action plans, employee wellbeing audits, mental health first aid training and webinars
- Residential care
- Support programmes
In addition to their services, they also work in our local communities to raise awareness and challenge stigma and discrimination around mental health.
What does it mean to be a local Mind?
As a local Mind, Norfolk and Waveney Mind are an independent charity – they raise their own funds and have their own Board of Trustees who are responsible for how they are run. Being local, they understand our local community and tailor their services in response to what people need most.
Being part of the Mind national network does means they also benefit from shared support, knowledge, and ideas. They work in partnership with the national Mind charity and the other local Minds to deliver high-quality services to anyone who needs them.

The Value of Planning Ahead: LPAs & Court of Protection
Putting LPAs in place allows you to choose trusted people to make decisions for you if you lose capacity in the future. This avoids the need for loved ones to make a costly and time-consuming deputyship application to the Court of Protection. With more people likely to experience conditions affecting capacity, more families may need to turn to the Court for support where no LPAs are in place.
