Charity of the Month: The Matthew Project
Leathes Prior is delighted to be supporting The Matthew Project as our Charity of the Month for December 2025. The Matthew Project is a fantastic local charity, supporting young people and adults across Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex to overcome challenges linked to drugs, alcohol, and mental health, empowering them to rebuild confidence and lead fulfilling lives.
What services does The Matthew Project provide?
There a several areas of support The Matthew Project provides:
- For Young People - There are several services for young people including YouCan, for young people affected by a family members drug/alcohol misuse, Unity for young people who are worried about their own drug/alcohol misuse and its impact on them or others, and On Track, which is a support for 13-24 year olds facing barried to education or employment.
- For Adults - The Matthew Project runs a brilliant programme called Next Steps: Recovery That Builds Community, which is Norfolk’s first and only post-treatment recovery service for adults affected by substance misuse. There are three strands of support offered in the programme: substance misuse recovery, criminal justice and veteran support, creating a space for those in recovery to find community and support.
As well as providing support for young people and adults, The Matthew Project offers specialist services, such as veteran-led support across East Anglia for those affected by substance misuse and PTSD. They believe that lives can be transformed by engaging with people to reclaim their sense of purpose and expand their life choices.
The Matthew Project has dedicated and experienced teams offering a space to be listened to through one-on-one support, groups, face-to-face and virtual support. They aim to understand young people and adults through their behaviour and motivations, so that they can make the right choices that are right for them, as well as develop skills and interests.
The Matthew Project's Impact
In their 2024/25 Impact Report, The Matthew Project:
- Supported 1,788 children, young people, and adults across our services, facing a range of challenges
- Delivered 3,912 volunteer hours
- Delivered 70 positive activity sessions to children & young people
- Supported 192 veterans with tailored support for their recovery

They have a fantastic centre which is available for private hire, as well as catering services, DINE Pop Up Restaurant & education service.
