Training Contracts
Who should apply
Save for exceptional cases, we look for a minimum 2.1 degree (in any discipline) and a genuine desire to practise law. You should have/be expected to achieve a high 2.1 degree (in any discipline) as well as a preponderance of A or A* grades at A level, and be able to spell preponderance.
You should possess good commercial awareness and marketing skills, and want to work in an environment where initiative is rewarded and responsibility comes early.
Those unable to cope with early responsibility or without ambition need not apply.
Training programme
We aim to compile training programmes to meet the wishes of individual trainees. The normal pattern is four six-month seats. All trainees will work directly with the firm's partners and will gain excellent hands-on experience of contentious and non-contentious work.
Trainees will be expected to see clients and run their own caseload when they are sufficiently experienced and when appropriate opportunities arise. We may arrange for trainees to undertake a secondment. In recent times, Leathes Prior trainees have been seconded to Norwich City Football Club, Ipswich Town Football Club and Hull City Football Club.
