Elderly Client Services

Our Private Client team advises on those areas which will affect us all in some way at some time during our lives. Hazel Gill, the Partner in charge of this team, is an experienced senior practitioner in the field of trusts and estates and a fully qualified member of both the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).

SFE is an association of lawyers who specialise in legal services for older people and their carers. Members of SFE have a wealth of experience in this key legal area and are required to have spent a substantial amount of time working for elderly clients.

Getting older can be an anxious time both for the elderly person and for their family, but with a little help where needed there is no reason why our later years should not be a positive time of contentment and fulfilment. Expert advice can help and we have a range of elderly services based on three core principles

Respect: Specialist care and advice delivered in a tactful and sympathetic manner. Advice on wills, trusts and estate planning. Home visits offered where required.

Enablement: Helping clients to remain in their own home should they wish to for as long circumstances and safety allow. Advice on benefit applications and tax matters.

Protection: Lasting Powers of Attorney and applications for the appointment of a Deputy. Advice on protecting the family home, residential care home fees. Dealing with the local authority and NHS continuing care assessment.
