Administration of Estates

“Hazel Gill and William Riley at Leathes Prior compete with the best. Clients appreciate their efficient and pragmatic approach.”

[Legal 500 2009]

Our Private Client team advises on those areas which will affect us all in some way at some time during our lives. Hazel Gill, the Partner in charge of this team, is an experienced senior practitioner in the field of trusts and estates and a fully qualified member of both the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE).

When a person dies there are a number of legal and practical issues that will need to be dealt with. These can be quite complex and come at a time when you may have other things on your mind.

We can help by providing advice or by taking on the day to day administration of an estate (commonly known as ‘probate’) and shoulder the administrative burden on Executors and bereaved family members.

If you have been made an Executor or are involved in administration of an estate of a friend or relative, but you are not sure of the process, we are able to give you preliminary advice as to what you need to do next.

We are able to provide advice and assistance in the following areas:

  • Grants of Probate
  • Intestacy (where the deceased has not left a Will)
  • Disputes relating to Wills or to administrations generally
  • Inheritance Tax
  • Estates with agricultural or business assets
  • Estates with foreign assets

If you have any enquiries, please contact Hazel Gill or Tessa Bonser– or alternatively please call us on 01603 610911.
