Amendments to British Showjumping Rules on Micro-Chipping and Flu Vaccinations

This month British Showjumping has announced amendments to its rules on micro-chipping and flu vaccinations. These will form part of the 2012 Rules and Year Book, effective from 1 April 2012. British Showjumping members should familiarise themselves with the new rules to ensure compliance.

All horses and ponies registered with British Showjumping after 1 April 2012 and competing in National competitions (not Club) must be micro-chipped. This requirement will not initially apply to horses and ponies already registered with British Showjumping prior to 1 April 2012.

Flu vaccinations will become mandatory for all horses and ponies competing in British Showjumping National classes and they must have a valid flu vaccination certificate. Owners should be aware that it will be their responsibility to ensure that their horse’s or pony’s vaccinations are up to date and properly recorded on its vaccination record, particularly as British Showjumping have announced that spot checks will regularly be carried out at show venues throughout the year.

Please note that British Showjumping’s Rules and Year Book is amended from time to time and the exact wording of these amendments should be reviewed when the 2012 Book is in circulation.
