Harriet joined our Employment Team in November 2015. With over six years’ experience practising employment law at a large regional firm prior to that, she is well respected within the local business community. She gained a 2:1 in her law degree at the University of East Anglia in 2004 before going on to pass her LPC with a distinction in 2006.
In particular, Harriet specialises in advising both employees and employers in relation to the termination of employment, and represents both claimants and respondents in Employment Tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal, TUPE-related claims and complex discrimination claims. During the last year she has achieved favourable results for her clients in a number of whistleblowing claims, and often conducts her own advocacy at employment tribunal hearings.
Harriet also advises clients in the preparation of employment documentation such as staff handbooks and bespoke employee policies, contracts of employment and service agreements, and assists both individuals and businesses in the drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements. Harriet prides herself on delivering advice in a timely and pragmatic way, focusing on a “can-do” approach. She has received plenty of praise in the UK’s guides to law firms and lawyers, most recently being identified as a notable practitioner in Chambers and Partners 2017.
Harriet was promoted to an Associate at Leathes Prior in May 2017.
