Norfolk County Services Limited acquires majority stake in EventGuard Limited from Norwich City Football plc

Leathes Prior Corporate advised Norfolk County Services Limited on its acquisition of 75.1% of EventGuard Limited, Norwich City Football Club’s event stewarding and security company.  The Club retains the remaining 24.9%.

Norfolk County Services Limited will take over the running of EventGuard Limited – a company which has around 500 staff on its books, providing event stewarding and security, door staff, mobile patrols and keyholding services.

EventGuard Limited will continue to operate under its current trading name and will retain its impressive client list, that includes The Forum, Newmarket Racecourse, Great Yarmouth Racecourse, Norfolk County Council, Norfolk Constabulary and the annual music concerts at Blickling Hall.

Norfolk County Services Limited is part of the Norse Group – a dynamic holding company, bringing together facilities management provider Norfolk County Services, property consultancy NPS Property Consultants Ltd and waste processing and management operator NEWS, creating a group-combined turnover in excess of £160 million and providing employment for 5,000 people throughout the county.

The Norse Companies are private trading arms of Norfolk County Council and plough profits back into the council under a unique public/private initiative.

Peter Hawes, Managing Director of Norfolk County Services Limited said, “This joint venture is an exciting opportunity for Norfolk County Services to work closely with Norwich City Football Club to develop this business and provide job security to all staff who have worked so hard to make these great local companies a success.

“EventGuard is an established, and well respected brand, and this deal presented a good opportunity to merge our two security businesses and trade under that banner.

“I believe that the combined business has a great future and EventGuard’s national experience in providing guarding services will compliment the work NCS does inside and outside of Norfolk”.

City Chairman Roger Munby commented: “We are delighted to announce that Norfolk County Services has acquired a majority stake in EventGuard.  EventGuard was formed in 2001 and has grown quickly to become the leading event stewarding and security company in East Anglia.  NCS are the ideal organisation to take this business into an even more successful future and, with their marketing resources and commercial reach, we are confident that EventGuard will continue to go from strength to strength.  We also see this move as a key plank in the Club’s strategy to align itself far more closely with the County of Norfolk”
