Last night saw one of highlights of the Norfolk Rugby social calendar when Wymondham Rugby Club held their annual gala dinner at their home ground at Tuttles Lane with more than 400 guests.
The event was made even more special to the club with the attendance of guest speaker Will Greenwood MBE, Lions and England World Cup winner.
The event which was sponsored by Leathes Prior Solicitors for the 2nd year running started with a Champagne reception at the home of Bob Sutton, a Vice President, with Mr Greenwood for a select group and was then followed by a 3 course Dinner.
The prize giving for the players was extensive, which is not surprising when you consider their achievements this season. These include winning the Norfolk Senior Cup, winning the Eastern Counties 1 League Title and reaching the Quarter-Final of the National EDF Junior Vase Competition where they only narrowly lost to a team six divisions above them.
Following on from the Dinner and Prize giving, Will gave a very entertaining speech focusing on the importance of team work and unity, and how this can apply from the top end of International Rugby to local club teams. Will went on to mention how he was delighted to have been invited to the event, and that having 400 guests in attendance was an amazing achievement, rounding off his speech with "Wymondham, you're a top bunch of guys!"
