Government U-Turn on HIPS

In an unexpected turn, the government announced on Tuesday 22nd May 2007 that Home Information Packs (HIPS), which had been scheduled to become compulsory on 1 June, will be delayed until 1 August.

According to the new plan, HIPS will at first only be required for sales of homes that have four bedrooms or more and instead of having to be in possession of a completed pack, the seller must only have commissioned the pack before they put their home on the market. The government has mentioned that HIPS for smaller properties will be phased in at a later date.

If you would like further information on HIPs, their introduction or general conveyancing please feel free to contact one of the team on 01603 610911 who will be more than happy to help.
