Martin graduated from Cambridge and trained with a City of London firm, qualifying as a solicitor in 1987 when he joined Leathes Prior.
He is the Head of the Litigation Department and specialises in dispute resolution, either through the courts or by negotiation or mediation - whatever is likely to prove the most cost effective way of achieving a client's wishes. He is an experienced advocate in both the County Court and the Employment Tribunal.
Martin is also a CEDR registered Mediator and the founder of Leathes Prior's mediation arm, mediation-1st. He has successfully mediated a wide range of disputes, from local building disputes in Norwich to multi national commercial disputes in London.
His work as a Mediator and the insight it gives him into the dynamics and tactics of negotiation can give clients a key edge in achieving their goals.
Martin is a member of the firms Management Committee, and also responsible for the recruitment of trainee solicitors.
He is fluent in German.
Martin has been included in the "Legal Experts" publication under Commercial Dispute Resolution in 2006. 2007 and 2008. In addition the 2007 edition of the Legal 500 noted "Clients praise senior litigation partner and leading mediatior Martin Plowmans Wealth of Experiance."
