Dan Chapman Partner
Dan graduated in Law with a First from the University of Keele in 1999 and completed his studies at Nottingham Law School in 2000, before joining Leathes Prior as a trainee solicitor in September 2000.
Dan qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and was appointed as a Partner of the firm in May 2005. He heads up the firm's Employment Team, and also Leathes Prior's Sports Law Team. Dan acts for a range of sporting clients including football league clubs and motorsports teams, and is experienced in providing representation before Sports Tribunals and conducting sports related litigation in the civil courts. Dan is assisted in the Sports Law Team by the firm's Corporate, Dispute Resolution and Commercial Teams.
As the Head of the Employment Team, Dan acts for employers and regularly appears as an advocate before the Employment Tribunals. His client base encompasses a diverse range of employers, of all sizes, and he focuses on ensuring that he provides cost effective, commercial and pro-active advice. Dan has developed a particular niche expertise in advising employment agencies and businesses, and has an in depth knowledge of the complex Gangmasters Licensing Authority regime.
Dan is consistently rated as a leader in Employment Law in the East Anglia region by all of the independent guides to the legal profession. The 2006 Legal 500 publication reported that Dan is praised by clients "who express every confidence" and "say that he exceeds expectations" and "makes employment law appear understandable". The 2007 edition has also confirmed that Dan is well respected in the region for his employment law experience and advocacy skills, and Dan attracts praise for his "quick response times and kindly advice".
The 2009 edition of Chambers and Partner note Dan to be "exceptionally good", and "a clear communicator, very thorough and able to provide accurate, timely advice."
In addition, the 2008 edition of the Legal 500 praises Dan as a "local leading light, whose strategy and experience are key success factors. His commerical awareness and strong sense of reasonablness make him a pleasure to work with."
The 2006 edition of the Chambers and Partner guide also singles out Dan for his "concise and dynamic approach and ability to cut to the heart of the issue", and praises Dan's mediation skills, whereas the 2008 edition focused on Dan's "speed, efficiency and thoroughness".
The Legal Experts (2009) publication recommended only 3 employment solicitors who practice in Norwich, of which Dan is one.
Dan is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
